Our clients loved their 1895 Victorian home, but the kitchen was short on counter space and conveniences. In this Denver historic remodeling project, we removed a badly built, single-pane glass sunroom from the rear of the house and built on a one-story addition, creating space with this home addition into which the new kitchen could expand.
From the soapstone countertops to the interior trim to the home addition’s new exterior walls, we used materials and fixtures that aligned with the homeowners’ vision and fit this Highland Denver home’s century-old character. The full basement we added below the addition increases storage space, while the new fireplace helps keep the family/dining room warm and cozy. Mid-project, the homeowners asked us to remodel the upstairs master bath as well.
Today, the new piping, wiring, vanity, sinks and floor — along with the glass shower and claw-footed tub — offer the perfect blend of classic style and modern comfort.
“After clipping pictures from magazines for more than ten years, we knew exactly what we wanted our new addition to look and feel like. John and Dilsha were flexible and accommodating and they took care of everything; they were able to understand our goals and bring them to life. Now it’s so fun to be in this room and cook in this kitchen; it’s exactly the way we envisioned it.”
