2015 C.A.R.E. Award Winner: Historic Remodel & Addition

Lisa and Anthony had been thinking about adding a second story for several years when they contacted H & H Builders. They wanted a project that would give them more living space and also enhance the vintage character of their house. They also wanted a reliable professional contractor so that they did not have a repeat of an earlier experience with a kitchen addition that took more than a year for the contractor to complete.

We designed a new second floor, “pop-up” that included a new master bedroom, bathroom and guest bedroom. A new showcase stairway was added. The new stairs open up into the living room and front entry. The living room was expanded and opened up by removing a bedroom wall. This also made room for the new stairway.

The new bathroom included a fully tiled shower, double sink furniture style vanity, and a custom decorative tile floor. A unique feature that Lisa insisted on was installing a claw-foot soaking bathtub in the master bedroom. A new gas fireplace with a restored antique wood & tile surround was also included in the new master bedroom. The guest bedroom does double duty as Lisa’s dance studio and home office.
